Feng Shui and the 9 areas of the Bagua also called Gua’s

There are 9 areas of the Bagua, which is one of the tools used in the practice of Feng Shui to help bring balance and harmony to living spaces and people’s lives. Getting to know the Bagua Map and what each area represents is a very enriching experience of learning how to bring more of yourself into the creation of your home and your life.

I will be writing about each of the 9 areas once a week. I will include a Bagua Map at the end of the series for reference so that you can overlay the map onto the floor plan of your home.

At the end of this blog series I will include instructions on how to map your home. So be sure to read all of the blog article on each area of the Bagua so you will know what each area represents and how it relates to the quality of your life.

Before you start enhancing areas of your home, it is important to remember to first go through your entire home and purge and let go of clutter. If you do not do that first, it will be like painting a new picture on top of a dirty canvas or cooking a delicious gourmet meal in a dirty pot. Here are two past blogs on Clearing Clutter:

Clearing clutter and purging has its own magical benefits too. Here are a few inspiring stories from a few of my Feng Shui clients about what happened in their life when they cleared clutter.

One client had been trying unsuccessfully to lose weight. After she cleared out her garage, which was a total nightmare of stacked items so deep and tall that you could hardly walk through there, she effortlessly lost the 20 pounds she had been trying so hard to lose. Interestingly enough, a lot of the items in her garage were from her deceased parents and items from a previous marriage. Sometimes we hang on to more weight in the form of our belongings than we need to. Let it go and let it flow is my mantra.

Another woman, had an old couch and chair that was given to her during a financially lean time of her life. These pieces of furniture lived in the Wealth and Prosperity area of her home. The furniture was upholstered in a pattern she didn’t care for and uncomfortable to sit on. Not long after AMVETS came and picked those pieces up – her investments started doing better, her business started bringing in income from different platforms that previously were not doing well and her husband got a well-deserved raise from his job. Move stuck energy and allow new opportunities and positive experiences to flow into your life.

The 9 areas of the Bagua are:

  • Helpful People and Travel
  • Children and Creativity
  • Love, Marriage and Relationship
  • Fame and Reputation
  • Wealth and Prosperity
  • Health and Family
  • Knowledge and Wisdom
  • Career or Journey through Life
  • Center

Each week I will write about one of the 9 areas of the Bagua. You may want to sign up for my Mindful Moments blog so you receive all 9 of the descriptions, one each week, and the Bagua Map on week 9 so that you can place the Bagua Map over the floor plan of your home and see how your home is reflecting each of the aspects of life.
