How to Enhance your Love Life with Feng Shui

With a few simple Feng Shui enhancements you can create an atmosphere that transforms your bedroom into a tranquil and sensual sanctuary to enhance your love life regardless of your current relationship status or desires.   In the practice of Feng Shui, safety and comfort come first and then beauty.  The functions of the bedroom are many faceted and are important. It is the place where we rejuvenate and heal. It is also a space where we express our sensual and sexual self.

To support both a healing sanctuary and a romantic cozy den there are complementary Feng Shui enhancements you can implement.  Use the tips below to help you create that balance and watch as improvements in your relationships and love life come to fruition.

  • Clear clutter in the entire room; closet, under the bed, dresser drawers and surfaces. Clutter of any kind inhibits energy flow.
  • Remove: exercise equipment, work related items such as a desk and computer and TV’s and relocate if possible. Work and exercise do not belong in your sensual, resting and rejuvenating sanctuary.
  • Place the bed with a view of the door so you can see someone entering. This will gives a feeling of safety when you can see someone entering the room.
  • Make sure you have a headboard to represent stability and protection.
  • Remove sharp, heavy objects above or around the bed to encourage a feeling of safety and protection.
  • If there are mirrors where you can see your reflection from the bed, cover with curtains in a soft warm color. Mirrors amplify energy and can be disruptive to a good night’s sleep.
  • Use soft lighting, luxurious fabrics, warm colors in earth tones such as cream, pink, tan, peach, coral, salmon, honey, skin tones, soft beige, light soft browns, champagne and earthy red colors.
  • Remove or minimize cool colors like blue, green and white; and bright colors like yellow, orange, bright red; and also black or grey. These colors can be either too activating- inhibiting deep sleep or be a deterrent to intimacy.
  •

Make sure there is room to walk around both sides of the bed and place a nightstand and lamp on each side of the bed to symbolize equality in the relationship. If you want to attract a new partner, have the room set up and ready to receive a new love interest.

  • Display items in pairs if possible symbolizing partnership and equality. For example: a pair of candles, two framed photographs, two sculptures, two plants, etc.
  • Art work should be relaxing, calm, peaceful and sensual; paintings of happy couples or sensual couple artwork.
  • Bed lines should be in a high thread count and made from soft cotton, bamboo, silk or flannel.
  • Remove excess pillows on the bed as that can indicate a barrier for spontaneous interludes; or communicates that there is no room for anybody.
  • Relocate stuffed animals, family photos, religious art or objects.   Stuffed animals relate to childhood; family photos can produce inhibitions as it seems that the people in the photos are looking at you; and religious objects can dampen feelings of romance and intimacy.
  • Add candles and fragrances that enhance sensuality such as Ylang Ylang, Amber, Rose, Jasmine or any fragrance that is appealing to both of you.
  • Place a vase of flowers, particularly roses as they symbolize love and romance.
  • Have your favorite music available either for romance or deep relaxation.
